What You Need to Know Before Booking Fall Photos
It’s no secret that Fall is the most popular time of the year for family photos. The weather cools off a little, the foliage starts to change, and the season is packed with festivity.
If you are considering booking a fall family session, here are a few things you need to consider:
First things first, you need to consider Alabama weather in the Fall. Alabama has the most unreliable weather, and that is certainly true in the fall. Temperatures In the fall season range between scorching and chilly (and can change by the day), so be sure to consider that when booking your session and planning your wardrobe.
Every fall, all my clients try to predict when the fall foliage will make its grand debut in the Tuscaloosa area. One thing that I always remind my clients is that the leaves in our area are fickle and never change at the same time. It’s also important to note that once they do change, you can expect about a week and a half of the beautiful colors before they turn brown and fall off. Some years are more vibrant than others depending on how dry the season has been, so it’s hard to guarantee those heavily sought after hues. When selecting a location for your fall photos, be sure you love the backdrop whether the leaves are green or fall tones.
Consider football game traffic and congestion in certain areas of town when selecting your location for photos. If game day is hosted in Tuscaloosa, a lot of the areas in and around downtown Tuscaloosa will not be a good spot for family photos.
Lastly, I always encourage my clients to be mindful about the sunset as we approach the fall season. after those long summer days, it’s easy to forget that the days quickly begin to get dark earlier and earlier. Remember when booking your session, that the best time for portraits is generally going to be about an hour before sunset (depending on location).
Fall is such an exciting busy time of year!
